Biography

“A photograph is usually looked at – seldom looked into.” – Ansel Adams.
I am a self-taught photographer born and bred in Yorkshire but now based in Manchester in the North West of England with a passion for most genres of photography.

My photographic journey began in the 1970s using a Russian Zenit E camera, then progressing to an Olympus OM10 (with Data back) in the late 1980s. With the introduction of digital SLR cameras my interest in photography was re-kindled and has grown considerably over the last 20 years through using the Olympus E520 (4/3rds system) and then a Canon EOS 7D to become my true passion.

In March 2020 I dipped my toe into the world of mirrorless full-frame cameras.

Since August 2021 I have been a registered photographer for Carousel Calendars, and regularly supply them with images.

A selection of my work is also available through the Alamy Stock Photography Website:

I am available for commissioned work; so If you know of any work that I may be interested in, or able to help you with, then please get in touch via the 'contact me' page.

Although all digital images have to be processed to some extent to make them usable, I shoot in RAW format, and keep manipulation to a minimum and present the image in the way I remember seeing it. I believe it is better to get the image right 'in camera' and do as little post-processing as possible.

I hope you enjoy viewing my images as much as I did in capturing them.
